The Team

Reno Rennsport was formed in 2009 when Mat Lowrance left Sport Haus after 28 years. Mat started his Porsche career in the 70’s at Garretson’s Enterprises and built a reputation in the Porsche community over the next 40 years. In 2017 Jess Lattin joined as a partner. Jess was a Porsche Master Technician for the Porsche dealer in Reno for 15 years. RRS employs a wide range of talent for Porsche cars. The team is capable of building and restoring early 356 and 911 engines and cars to servicing the newest Porsche models with the latest in equipment. The team builds several dozen engines and transmissions each year. RRS supports several Porsche race cars in vintage and club circuits in the US. The team is experienced in many performance upgrades for all Porsche makes.

Mat Lowrance

Partner, Head of Race Development & Special Projects

Mat spent most of his career working on cars, in the 70’s he became a Porsche Mechanic for Garretson’s Enterprises. There he worked on dozens of storied cars including, RSR’s, 911’s and 934’s. Mat began racing in the late 70’s and eventually built his own Porsche GTU car and competed in west coast races for the IMSA Camel GT and Exxon series. He also was one of the few to compete in SCCA trans am racing with a Porsche when the rules favored larger american cars with high horsepower. From there Mat moved to Reno and became the head Porsche technician at Sport Haus for 30 years. He built dozens of club race cars and engines over the years and competed in PCA club racing, PRC club Racing and NASA racing. He built many 911 street hot rods and turbo cars over the years. Mat still enjoys developing air cooled engines and race cars and is always working on new and interesting projects.

Jess Lattin

Partner, Porsche Master Technician

Jess is a graduate of UTI in AZ from their he joined Porsche PTAP program and worked at the Porsche dealership in Reno for over 15 years. He has logged over 1,000 hours of Porsche factory training in Porsche’s North American facilities. He earned their highest certification as a Porsche technician and was the head technician for the dealership for many years. Jess has exceptional expertise with water cooled Porsches and newer models. He has significant training and experience working on 996’s,997’s, 991’s, Cayenne’s, Cayman’s, Panamera’s and even the 918 and Carrera GT. He was one of the first few Technicians in the US to complete 996 and 997 engine displacement enlargements. He built many engines and is now Rennsport’s lead engine and transmission builder. Jess also brings experience with other foreign exotic super cars such as Ferrari, Bentley and Lamborghini. Jess is the Technical Chairman on the board for Porsche Club of America’s Sierra Nevada Region.

Brian Lowrance

Partner, Head of Operations

Brian has over a decade of experience in finance and corporate operations. He holds a Bachelor’s degree In Business Administration from Cal Poly and has several financial designations. Brian has spent nearly 20 years racing and developing Porsches with his father Mat. He spent many years racing spec911 and GT class club racing and vintage racing with Porsche’s. Brian purchased a stake in Rennsport in 2016 to spend time with his dad and enjoy Porsche’s and motorsports full time.

Cory Carstens

Partner- Senior Porsche Technician and Shop Foreman

Cory is also a native to Northern Nevada. He had mechanical talent from an early age, in high school he finished second overall in the ford/AAA student skills competition. Finished 1st in the state of Nevada VICA skills competition and 16th in the nation. Cory graduated from Universal Technical Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. He spent the next 20 years working on European makes for various manufactures at dealerships. He is an ASE master tech and a BMW member level tech. Cory spent 5 years working for Porsche and has significant factory training and certifications. He has factory training on all Porsche systems for Cayennes, 996, 997, 991 911’s, Boxster’s and Caymans. He has built a number of Porsche engines and completed many of the common technical projects. At Rennsport he is a core part of the mechanical team and one the best diagnostic technicians at Rennsport.

Chris Berg

Partner- Senior Porsche Technician

Chris also grew up in Northern Nevada, he was a talented mechanic from early on and competed at skills USA nationals where he earned 16th in the country. Chris is a graduate of Wyotech Automotive University and holds an associates degree in automotive business. He started his career working on European cars, went through BMW’s factory school and was a senior BMW technician in Reno for 7 years. Chris always wanted to spend more time working on Porsche’s and had his chance when he joined RRS in 2021. He has become very well versed in Carburetor tuning for early Porsche’s and has experience with the full line of Porsches including 356, 911, 928, 944, Cayenne, Cayman, GT3, and Turbo models.

Matt Hill

Senior Porsche Technician

Matt is a graduate of Universal Technical Institute. From there he was recruited to attend Porsche’s Technical Apprenticeship Program where he completed all of Porsche’s technical training. He joined the Reno Porsche dealer and worked under Jess for 3 years. He worked on GT3, 911, Cayenne and Cayman models doing a full range of services. Matt went on to work on heavy trucks as a mechanic for several years and had a chance to go back to Porsche’s when he joined RRS.

Colby Breitenbach

Colby Breitenback, Apprentice Technician

Colby is a very talented young Mechanic who started at Rennsport several years ago. He is currently earning his degree in Automotive Technology from TMCC. At Rennsport he is capable of doing light service work and helping the senior techs with larger projects.

Paris Wilson

Service Writer

Paris has a background in event management and ran a staffing office prior to coming to Rennsport. She has several years of experience in corporate management and helps keep shop operations running smooth. She has a passion for Porsche’s and enjoys doing work on her own cars in the shop when she has time.

Alicia Jensen

Office and Parts Manager

Alicia grew up in Reno Nevada and is a recent graduate from UNR with a Bachelors Degree. She had an interest in sports cars from a young age and brings strong attention to detail and organization to RRS parts program. She also works on scheduling and estimating for RRS paint and body shop. Alicia also helps support business operations and accounting.

Roman Filippini

Shop Apprentice

Roman has a strong interest in cars and their mechanical systems. He has completed a majority of coursework at TMCC automotive program. He has experience working as an A/C technician in Reno. He also works on all his family members and personal cars in his spare time.

Austin Tischler

Fabrication

Austin brings over a decade of experience with professional fabrication and race teams. He started his career doing fabrication work and building professional off road racing trucks that ran in the SCORE series. Austin then went on to work as a fly-in mechanic for professional race team Fall Line Motorsports. The team campaigned Porsches and BMWs in the coveted Continental Tire Challenge. Austin traveled with the team as a mechanic to all series races for two years. In off-season he was responsible for fabrication at the shop. Austin was also involved in BMW S65 (V8) motor swaps to E46 chassis which the team became known for. He heads up all custom street and race fabrication at Rennsport.
